Our Stacking Team is a highly respected part of Sherborne Food Bank and plays a vital role in ensuring that donated items are sorted and stacked in the Depot according to type and date order. This makes the role of picking and packing our deliveries much easier and also ensures food safety requirements.

Location: Sherborne
Volunteer Stacker Role
Hours as required in consultation with the team leader/food bank Depot Manager and according to the stacking rota. This is an open-ended arrangement, with a 3-month trial period.Â
Sorting & Stacking takes place on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.Â
- Ensure donated items are sorted and stacked in the Depot according to type and date order
- Keeping the Depot clean and tidy, internally and externally, with rubbish placed in the bins provided
- Report any food shortages or excesses to your team leader or Depot Manager, so action can be taken
- Dispose of any out-of-date items as instructed
- Inform the Depot Manager of any issues, whether regarding safety, procedural or relating to the Depot building
- A good team player with excellent communication skills
- A good timekeeper, arriving for your shift at the Depot on time
- Treat food bank data and client information in strict confidence
- A confident and calm manner when speaking with others
- Well organised and self-motivated
- Aware of the health and safety of self and others
- Physically fit, as this is a lifting and carrying role
- A high standard of personal hygiene (hand sanitiser is provided)
Successful applicants will undergo an induction, initial training and Health & Safety briefing.
Disclosure/Barring check (DBS) is not required for this role.
